Baby Safe Sunscreen – How To Choose What’s Safe

on May 25, 2014

Above are amongst the top listed as safest for baby and you!

How to choose safe sunscreen for your baby and you:

– Try to choose a sunscreen that has 100% organic ingredients or close to it

-Make sure sunscreen is free of cancer causing chemicals and hormone disruptors such as Parabens, Phthalates, PEG’s (polyethylene glycols), Propylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, SLS/SLES, Oxybenzone, Vitamin A (retinyl palmitate)

-Avoid tanning oils because protection is normally not enough and it’s toxic

-Choose Micronized or NON-nano zinc oxide/titanium dioxide.  Nano particles pass through the skin and cause cell damage by releasing free radicals

-Choose broad spectrum sunscreen that protects you from UVA (deep penetrating, cancer causing)  and UVB (responsible for skin becoming pink , red, sunburn) rays

-Do not choose popular sunscreen brands normally on the more dangerous sunscreen list like Rite Aid, Neutrogena, Coppertone, RoC, L’Oreal, Hawaiian Tropics, Well at Walgreens, and Vichy

-Avoid combined sunscreen/bug repellent products.  You could be applying unsafe levels of bug-repelling chemicals when reapplying sunscreen

-Avoid anything higher than an SPF 50

Avoid sprays due their toxic nature when inhaling

Like food labels, read any product label as well.  You’ll be surprised at what you may find!

Be safe, be healthy!
