Afternoon of Health

on July 15, 2014

Grocery shopping with Luna on a stormy afternoon.  At one of our daily pit stops, Mrs.Greens in Scarsdale, NY.  We started in the organic produce section where Luna spotted cut up watermelon… how could I say no?!?!

Watermelon is loaded with benefits:

  • Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits
  • High in lycopene, aiding in cardiovascular health and bone health
  • Rich supply of amino acid, citruline (converted to arginine)
  • Improves blood flow through relaxation of veins (vasodilation)
  • Can possibly reduce fat accumulation
  • Contains vitamin C, pantothenic acid, copper, biotin, potassium, vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B6, magnesium

While Luna was eating half the container of watermelon, I got my kale, parsley, cucumber, ginger, and beet juice.  Strong, yummy and detoxifying for the body.  Yes, Luna had some of this too!  Of course, Luna had to have her OWN juice made from all greens with just a hint of ginger… Yup, she finished every last drop!

  • 95% of the vitamins and enzymes our bodies need are found in the juice of raw fruits and vegetables
  • Better absorption of nutrients
  • Facilitates weight loss
  • Increases energy levels
  • Strengthens immunity
  • Helps give you strong bones and a glowing complexion
  • May help reduce chances of heart disease, cancer and strokes, three of the leading causes of death

Eating healthy and creating awareness of nutritional, wholesome foods stems from the home.  Luna knows cookies and candy root your teeth and insides, so she goes for foods that mommy has introduced her to her entire life.  Anyone can do this with a child, just lead by example.  The example is YOU!
